2020 Jackson area high school baseball preview: Players to watch, top storylines.

Stephen Overstreet (Gibson County, Sr., IF): The Freed-Hardeman signee led the Pioneers to the Region 7-A semifinals as he batted .447 with 12 doubles, three home runs, 29 RBIs and 38 runs scored.
Larry Flesher (Gibson County, Sr., P/UT): The usual infielder played a key role last year as he batted .405 and went 4-0 with a 2.02 ERA.

Pioneer to Play in National JR Tourney in Oklahoma

Stephen Overstreet Jr from Gibson County has been invited and accepted to play with Team Tennessee at the JR. Sunbelt National Tourney this year in McAlester, OK.  The Tournament will be played June 7-12. Congratulations Stephen!!!

Coach Michael Wickersham Honored for 200 Wins | April 30, 2019

Tuesday night before the baseball game with Obion County Central HS, the Gibson County Pioneers Baseball Team, Team 38, with support of the GC Coaching Staff and GC Bull Pen Club presented Coach Micheal Wickersham a shadow box and jersey with “WICKERSHAM” and the number ”200” representing 200 career wins.  Coach Wickersham earned this coveted achievement on March 28, 2019 with an 8-4 Victory over Summertown High School at the Eagleville HS Baseball Field.

Tyson Foods, Gibson Electric recognized for donations | April 12, 2019

TYSON FOODS, INC. DONATES NEW SCOREBOARD – Friday night before the baseball game against Dyersburg, Tyson Foods, Inc. and Tyson Grain Services were recognized for their donation of a new scoreboard to the GCHS Pioneers baseball program, along with Gibson Electric Membership Corporation for setting the new posts and installing and wiring for the new scoreboard. The Gibson County baseball team surrounds GCHS principal Jim Hughes, Gibson Electric’s Eddie Bell, Tyson Foods representa-tives Mike Walsh, Blaine Cultra, Megan Flowers, Tom McCue, Molly Corvin and David Corvin, Tyson Grain Services representatives Bruce Williams and Chuck Whitaker, and Gibson Electric’s Barry Smith. Just chillin with my boys after 200! I been truly blessed 2 have surrounded myself around Asst coaches that are winners and Players through out the years,  that know how to win too. Plus my mentors that taught me how to do this ⁦⁦ @yardball8⁩ and C.Godwin. THANK YOU!!

Gibson County's Caden Wylie named Jackson area boys athlete of the week

Gibson County's Caden Wylie is the winner of the boys athlete of the week poll in West Tennessee for March 25-30.
Wylie received 50.3 percent of the boys athlete of the week vote for a total of 1,066 votes.
Wylie went 7-for-12 with two doubles, one triple and 10 RBI as the Pioneers went 5-1 on the week. Gibson County is 17-3.

So excited to share! Tyson and the Local Grain Services are getting us a new Scoreboard!! We also got a new BP Turtle. Good things are happening in Pioneer Nation!!!! So blessed to be along for the ride.

NEW ADDITION TO THE PIONEERS COACHING STAFF | JULY 3, 2018

Proud to announce my New Pitching Coach, Matthew Pickard.  He's a graduate from Trenton Peabody and pitched collegiately at Northwest Community College and Union University.  Not only does Coach Pickard bring his knowledge as a pitching coach, but he's a great Baseball guy and the boys, along with the saff, will benefit from having him!  It's a honor to been able to coached him as a youngester and now have him going in the trenches with me as an equal!  Thank you Coach Pickard for making the decision to be with us.  #WeAreGibsonCounty
